August Rossberg was born circa 1843 in the Kingdom of Prussia. It is unknown when he arrived in the United States, but on 04 Feb 1870, he married Christine Bader in Kerr County, Texas.
The 1870 US Federal Census for Kerr County shows August, his wife Christine and 15-year-old William Rossberg, also of Prussia, who may have been August's brother. August's occupation is shown as blacksmith.
The 1870 US Federal Census for Kerr County shows August, his wife Christine, son Charles A (born 1870), daughter Lena (born 1873), daughter Amelia (later known as Emma) (born 1874), son Gustav (born 1875), and son Otto (born 1879).
In November 1880, the whole family became ill with trichinosis after eating uncooked pork sausage. August and Lena died shortly thereafter, and the rest of the family was expected to die as well. But the other family members recovered, and after the deaths of Charles and Lena, moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where they would live for the rest of their lives.
The burial locations of August and Lena are unknown, but they are probably buried somewhere in Kerr County.
